& publication's showing precise statement's as written & or proof photo's of
the place or point that is reefered to in regard to the real historically recorded
annals' of Newryabbey in Co Down N. Ireland. All of these book's, map's,
leaflets, guides, history book's, religious writing, & almost 200 year's of
Newry & Mourne's memoirs & town guides along with associated English edited Newry
town guides, leaflets & booklets & abbey supplements are the author's (Oliver
Curran's) own Library. Important references from medieval Cistercian's
records along with period English State papers are included in order to show nothing
but the truth in all eventualities. The author was born within
the immediate Newryabbey enclosure & spent part his youth attending the abbey
school & know's at first hand the in's and outs of the whole Abbey area like
the back of his hand. In short he climed the walls of the abbey & went places where he wasnt supposed to & discovered some boy hood scary revealing truth's. He see's the recent errecting of an alleged lost English
Castle as the preverbial English Cukoo. He sees the English Lottery funding
for this unrecorded entity as an ongoing attemt to maintain an English heritage
for the planter culture that has prevailed here for 450 years, of which he
admits his members of his ancient family were part of . In short he see's
this distortion of Newryabbey's historically recorded history, as an affront
to his ancient Irish culture, & to those other culture's that were nursed with
in this foundation of St Patrick. |

Ireland is an old country, built on the earliest bones of time, the whole country
is a vast archaeological site with millions of recorded & unrecorded features
that could be anything from an interesting stone discovered on a hill, to
a forgotten ringfort on a hill opposite.. Resonant with local attachment
and deep continuities, it has the worlds most ancient historic landscapes that
gives our uniqueIrish identity. Newry played a very important role
in the ancient times and is recorded by the bards as doing so through out the
ages. Newry is a very special place but during the past 50 years,an intensive
wrecking and bulldozing of our ancient towns embankments & medieval building
that are irreplaceable & the land marks used by our ancestors are all but
extinct & while you may be under the illusion that Newry began only 850
years ago you are in for a big supprise. The Newryabbey was once called
the college of Newry, the last time this term was used was in 1456 when Infact
the Abbey went under a serious rebuilding scheme & like many others In Ireland
at this period was refurbished, many of the building survived after the reformation
and indeed some still survive today. Newry & Mourne say's theres none??
The worst period of destruction for the Abbey was during the Corrys
dynasty, when it is believed that this once very famous Abbey was brought
to the edge of extinction, they simply got the Newry Abbey's plural mixed up.
This shows you cant all ways believe what you read, especially when much
of Newrys past Is now under question , much was written to decieve to suit
a new English way of life here. The continuity Is rife still In regard
to this same Abbey when you look at the story invented by Belfast expert's to butter
over the fabricated horiffic story surrounding the 33 mutilated body's found.

Friends, Word is out that the "dismantling, and preserving as record" of the Ancient "Royal Temple" at Lismullin will go ahead on Tuesday 7th August At 5am! This monument site will be gone. Forever. This is an illegal action! Minister Gormley continues to show contempt for the law! The European Commission has sent several warnings to the Irish government, yet Minister Gormley continues to flout the law - to show contempt for EU Commission by openly defying it and disobeying the law. How many times must Minister Gormley be told that he has the final authority to stop work on the M3 and to call a moratorium on the destruction at Tara? Contact: Tara solidarity vigil no. (00353) 861758557 Pass the word along to your networks! Ask them to join the vigil! Become a legal observer. Bring camcorder or camera. The vigil camp always needs food, financial, moral and spiritual support. Here is an overview written by Fionnuala Devlin, a Dubliner now living in Berlin, who has long been active in raising awareness of the crisis at Tara. In fact, it was through her efforts that I heard about it . I was late to join the effort, because, at the time, I believed that this kind of desecration of heritage wouldn't be allowed to happen in Ireland! As said before Newryabbey got much the same treatment, & it goes on, sadly most in Newry wouldnt know about Newry being the first Tara ever written about, none have a clue as to where it even is,the Tara site that is,!! & When the likes of Ken Pullin, secretary of the Ulster Archaeological Society says stuff like, " Bagenal's tower house or not," I couldn't tell you ? yet his hand went up at the beginning of the thing, & then we have the sweet words from Richard Needham, the former Northern Ireland Office minister.who no doubt got paid when he opened the Newry Abbey Choir as a Bagenals Castle In 2004, En quote Richard " I have no idea whether it was a castle or not - probably not, knowing the history of Ireland." www.newryabbey.com Overview on Tara By Fionnuala Devlin of Protect-Tara.org http://www.protect-tara.org / Up until May of this year, the fight to protect the ancient landscape of Tara from the M3 motorway was seen by many as being a lost cause. The Irish government ignored all pleas on Tara’s behalf, including a joint-letter signed internationally by 350 academics emphasising what a unique cultural treasure the Tara landscape is, not just for Ireland, but for the world. The plight of Tara began to receive less and less press coverage. The stage looked set for the M3 double-tolled four-lane motorway. On April 30th, the Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, officially turned the first sod for construction on the motorway to begin. However anyone familiar with the story of Tara knows there is no place in Ireland with a more dramatic and flamboyant history, and as if on cue, the very day after the minister’s visit, archaeologists announced that at Lismullin in the Tara valley, a site of national monument status had been discovered smack in the middle of the motorway’s path. The site is an enormous find, both literally – it is the size of three football fields, and in terms of its significance. Archaeologists believe the site, which is a wooden henge, was a pagan ceremonial temple used by the ancient kings and queens. After a recent Irish general election, a coalition government was formed between the ruling Fianna Fail party and some smaller parties, including the Greens. In the ensuing cabinet reshuffle, the Minister of Environment and Heritage, Dick Roche, lost his post, and was replaced by John Gormley of the Green Party. However Minister Roche’s last official act was to order that the site at Lismullin should be ‘preserved by record’, that is, photographed, noted down, and then bulldozed through and cemented over, in effect, completely demolished. The new incoming Minister, previously a staunch supporter of Tara, insisted that he must abide by that order. Yet opposition parties claim he does in fact have the legal right to override the decision of his predecessor, he simply does not have the will to do so. As the situation stands, the royal Celtic temple at Lismullin is set to be destroyed. A troubling event also happened at the beginning of July. An ancient burial ground at Baronstown in the Tara valley, believed by expert archaeologists to also warrant the status of national monument, was razed by heavy construction machinery in the middle of the night. Thousands of years of heritage destroyed under cover of darkness in a few hours. Campaigners continue to do all they can to have the motorway rerouted and to prevent the destruction of this unique area. A small number of protesters camping at Tara have managed to block heavy construction machinery on a daily basis, and continue to do a wonderful job protecting the sites. The first arrests happened in July, when seven protesters were arrested, four of whom refused bail conditions and spent time in jail. The terrible irony is that they were arrested for trying to prevent illegal work. The European Union Commissioner, Stavros Dimas, wrote to the Irish government in June warning that continuing work on the M3 motorway after the archaeological discovery at Lismullin is illegal within EU law. A letter was also sent by the important European Union Petitions Committee demanding that all work be halted on the project immediately. In June, Tara was also placed on the World Monument Fund’s list of most endangered heritage sites. However, so far the Irish government is doing what it has done so consistently – continuing to ignore the great national and international outcry at the senseless destruction of the Tara valley. Tara has seen many battles over the last five thousand years, but no battle has posed a greater danger than the one it is embroiled in now. Its enemy is, the Orwellian titled, Minister for Environment and Heritage, and those behind him. Its champions are the many people who know that a motorway through this ancient, royal and holy valley is a desecration that they will do their utmost to prevent. Feed back More Feedback |
