Secrets Of The Hidden Abbey Of The Iubhar Cinn Tragha. Tara A Mediedval Irish Abbey Still Under Seige. By Oliver Curran 2007 An Irish Artist |
Most links found on this web site connect to first edition historical manuscripts
& publication's showing precise statement's as written & or proof photo's of
the place or point that is reefered to in regard to the real historically recorded
annals' of Newryabbey in Co Down N. Ireland. All of these book's, map's,
leaflets, guides, history book's, religious writing, & almost 200 year's of
Newry & Mourne's memoirs & town guides along with associated English edited Newry
town guides, leaflets & booklets & abbey supplements are the author's own Library.
Important references from medieval Cistercian's recordsalong with
period English State papers are included in order to show nothing but the truth
in all eventualities. The author was born within the immediate Newryabbey
enclosure & spent part his youth attending the abbey school & know's the
whole abbey area like the back of his hand. In short he climed the walls of
the abbey & went where he wasnt supposed to & discovered some boy hood scary reveling
truth's. He see's the recent errecting of an alleged lost English
Castle that uses an abbey chapel building as being in the manner of the preverbal
cuckoo, and he finds this distortion of Newry's history as an affront to his
ancient Irish culture, & those other culture's that were nursed with in this foundation
of St Patrick. |

Irish Clan King Of The Glens |
High King Of The Glen's Of Newry. |
For hundred's Of Years The English Have Battled To Take Control Of Newry. This Town
was the most Important meeting place Of the Irish Kings of the glens. The Legends That Surround This Newry Tara Are Not In The Least Fictional.
For Centuries Newry's Secret's Stayed In The Darkness because of the invaders
& especially by Bagenals actions, who not only had Newry distorted , he also had a copycat Melifont Charter drawn
to represent Newry to suit his plans. |
Finally on this page, I find it necessary to say, that from my observations in this
City of late it appears to me there is no thought at all given the preservation
of the older part of Newry. That being the Abbey Building's of which Newry Mourne
cleverly say they havent a clue about. Not one of the many walls or the few
building of the abbey that exist, have a preservation order on them.

It wasnt a big job converting the abbey arches into BAKERY OVENS IN THE CHURCH of Newryabbey , (NEW MUSEUM) . The reception rooms which were across the street from Mc Canns 2nd bakery (opened in 1893) were occupied
by the Lennon family in the 1960s & the Grants who lived in the lower section, were also part of Mc Canns first bakery (1835-1893) ; 2 ladys are seen
walking up to the abbey gate post. Cart loads of human bones were reported to be removed from around these
great Abbey houses over the years, and recently when they were both knocked
down in 1973, there were masses more uncovered beneath them both.
Was there a preconcieved plan to wipe out the remains of the Abbey at this date?.
It would make you wonder. !! . The Abbots House was also
a burial ground in its own right, it is written that tombs were in the walls
and along the tunnels underground . Many times Castle street was seen
to collapsed into these underground tunnels in the last 100 years. . These
Abbey tunnels are vast and plentyfull even today, & if a person knew how to
enter them as i do, you may live to tell the tale. Newry & Mourne constantly
deny these undercrofts exist, yet they took great care in putting a glass
floor over the entrance to the same in the so called Castle. |
The Abbots House of Newryabbey should never have been in dispute. The abbey was built
as an identikit model of the mother house in France, so all should be simple
when looking for its where abouts, the thing to do is look at a map, and or
do some real research on the issue whic i have done. The Cistercian abbot originally
slept in the dormitory with the rest of his community, as stipulated in the
twelfth-century customary of the Order. http://cistercians.shef.ac.uk/fountains/buildings/abbots_house/ It soon became common for abbots to have their own separate room(s) adjoining
or adjacent to the dormitory. This development occurred at Fountains in the mid-twelfth century, when the abbot occupied what has been described as ‘a
modest house’. It stood to the east of the latrine-block, which meant that he
could share these facilities with the monks. From the early fourteenth century,
the abbot’s house underwent alterations. The upper floor was expanded and restructured,
to provide greater privacy and comfort. Partitions were inserted and
a wall-fireplace added. The undercroft was converted to accommodate three prison
cells, each with its own toilet and an iron staple in the floor, to which the
inmate was chained. This being the case and a proper look at the map which out lines the abbots house, proves that the building that Newry and Mourne
call the Abbots house is not remotely close to the one by the latreen in the Fountains
map. There are other maps which show the abbots house in different
parts of other abbeys, the one below shows the house as being a tower house in
the area near the front of the chapel. So what is the truth in regard to Newrys abbot's house. One thing
for sure for sure, it isnt the building that is being called Bagenals Castle.

The map above Is a corner of another Cistercian Abbey Map, please click on it to
see the abbots tower house at the front of the chapel, its can be seen outlined
in red. An aeriel view. |
Below the plan of a Cistercian church, I sent a copy of this to Newry Mourne
at the on set of all, which they ignored. This map was sent to me by monks. Note
the first detail, the building is 224 feet long, this is the precise
length of the building that stands in Castle street today. If you were to walk
from the entrance to Lidl to the Abbey yard corner, facing Pat Prices chippie, count your steps. Click plan for larger view. |

Above pic shows the old Cole Hole in Newry, was this the tower house building that
the Newry abbot lived in. When it was pulled down in 1973 there were masses of
human bones beneath it, so it had to be part of the abbey. This St Colemans hall
was used by the Bosco, & for dancing, the walls were used as a hand ball wall.

The tall building at the top of the picture faced the 2nd Mc Canns bakery(1895 till
the present day, I believe this building which was Mc Canns first Bakery(1853-1895)
was the reception rooms of the abbey, the fountain map proves this
to be fact. |
